Athens Technical College: TECH on Tuesdays

The Associate Degree Board of Commissioners of the Association of College Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) recently awarded Athens Technical College reaffirmation of accreditation for its associate of applied science degree business programs in Accounting, Business Administrative Technology, and Marketing Management.

ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the Division of Business and Public Service at Athens Technical College meet the rigorous educational standards established by the ACBSP Associate Degree Board of Commissioners.

"The faculty, staff, and senior administration of Athens Technical College have shown their commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process," said Steve Parscale, ACBSP director of accreditation. "This accreditation is evidence that the institution is committed to providing the highest quality business education to students."

Dr. Flora W. Tydings, president of Athens Technical College, states that the reaffirmation of accreditation demonstrates to the public in general and students specifically that the institution provides relevant, innovative educational programs.

"As an institution, we are committed to achieve a standard of excellence that is expected and demanded of institutions of higher education," Dr. Tydings said. "The reaffirmation afforded to us by the Association of College Business Schools and Programs underscores our commitment to develop and offer programs that prepare students to enter successfully into their chosen career field once they graduate from Athens Technical College.

ACBSP is a leading specialized accreditation association for business education supporting, celebrating, and rewarding teaching excellence. Established in 1988, ACBSP is the only business accrediting organization for all associate, baccalaureate, and graduate degree programs. In 2001, ACBSP was recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

ACBSP continues to grow, having recently added its ninth region to better serve member institutions in Latin, Central, and South America. There are currently more than 664 members, including 296 members from associate degree-granting institutions and 89 institutions from outside the United States. ACBSP member institutions represent 38 different countries.
